There’s time to enter,
And a time to exit;
There’s time to welcome,
And a time to bid farewell.
There’s time to be a fresher,
And time to be an old-timer;
There’s a time to be junior,
And time to be a senior.
Whom we know not, we knew them,
Whom we never see, we met them;
Whom we never talk to, we talked with them,
Whom we never talk to, we talked with them,
Who never was a friend, became a friend.
Numbering our days, together,
Numbering our days, together,
Attending classes, together;
Learning and studying, together,
Happy and hope for a better future.
Life is unfair,
Everything is temporary;
Happiness is momentary,
We all are for short-term.
Whom we knew, we no longer know,
Whom we met, we no longer see;
Whom we talked, we no longer talk,
Who once a friend, is no longer a friend.
But we, let’s still remember,
Though we no more meet, let’s still remember;
Though we no more talk, let’s still remember,
Though we no more friend, let’s still remember.
Our hills and valleys may differ,
Our hills and valleys may differ,
But let’s our hearts be together;
Even if many years passed, let’s not forget,
Even if miles away, let’s continue to remember.
**This poem is a Farewell poem that I wrote in Mizo which was later translated into English. Dedicated to all my friends in Serampore College during 2016-2020. As I am about to leave the college after completing my studies, I am writing about this poem to my friends to be always in touch and remember even after many years passed and though all may stay miles away!
